The promise of being powerless under someone else, so long as you can dominate everything else in turn, is quite appealing when you don't think too much about it. After all, most mortals realize they're inevitably under someone else's heel- isn't it just a matter of survival and practicality, to make sure you end up as close to the top of the heap as possible?"
